Letter from the Recruitment Chairs
Welcome to the Meet the Chapter event for Kappa Alpha Pi, UC Berkeley’s premier co-ed pre-law fraternity. Our names are Rotem Litinski and Sophie Wang and we are the Recruitment Chairs for Fall 2019. As dedicated members of this fraternity for the past two semesters, we are eager to commence a recruitment process that seeks those who are as passionate and hardworking as our members are. Over the next two weeks, we will strive to portray how Kappa Alpha Pi can serve as a source for professional development and a haven for those seeking a community of like minded individuals. Although there is a vast array of majors, personal interests, and career objectives that exist among our members, we are all bound by our zeal for fraternalism. We are excited to get to know each and every one of you and learn more about the unique perspectives and experiences that you could bring to our community. We will now discuss the recruitment process in further detail.
Over the next two weeks, we will be hosting three recruitment events to cultivate an understanding of who you are as an individual and to give you the opportunity to introduce yourself to members of our fraternity. The goal of these events is to provide us with a sense of what you could offer to our fraternity, as well as to demonstrate what our fraternity could offer to you. We believe that each event is unique in that it offers a different perspective about the benefits of joining Kappa Alpha Pi. Tonight’s event, Meet the Chapter, will emphasize professional interactions, Legal Night will emphasize our relationship with the law community, and Social Night will cultivate casual conversation between applicants and members. While attendance at these events is not mandatory, we believe that each one is beneficial with respect to getting you acquainted with Kappa Alpha Pi. Furthermore, each of these events provides useful experience developing your professional persona, as well as information pertaining to the legal field and law school admissions.
Following the three recruitment events, applicants will be invited to participate in a a series of three interviews to further gauge their professionalism, problem solving capacities, and critical thinking skills. The Xi Class of Fall 2019 will be then carefully selected from a large pool of highly accomplished applicants and invited to join our Leadership Development Program, which will be guided by our esteemed Leadership Development Committee. The Leadership Development Semester is a rigorous program that will develop you professionally, while also integrating you into a community of individuals striving for excellence. Our current members, as well as our impressive network of alumni, have worked at institutions such as Morrison & Foerster LLP, Google, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley. Whether or not you end up pursuing a career in the legal field, the skills that Kappa Alpha Pi can provide translate into any field of work.
Lastly, we would like to end by saying that we have strived to refine our recruitment process to make it as holistic and accessible as possible to all members of the UC Berkeley community and we hope that the events we are hosting for the next two weeks reflect this goal. If for any reason, you feel that are you not being accommodated for during the recruitment process or if you have general questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you again for expressing an interesting in joining the Xi Class of Kappa Alpha Pi and we look forward to speaking with all of you shortly.
