Letter from the Recruitment Chairs
Welcome to the Spring 2025 Recruitment for Kappa Alpha Pi, UC Berkeley’s premier co-ed pre-law fraternity. Our names are Elaine Pimentel and Justine Garcia, and on behalf of all the members and alumni of our community, we are excited to invite others to continue paving the path for professionalism, fraternalism, and integrity through the Spring 2025 application process. As Recruitment Chairs, we have the privilege of opening our fraternity’s doors to those interested in the legal field by organizing the application process, facilitating both social and professional connections, and serving as resources for those who may have any questions or concerns.
Over the next few weeks, we will demonstrate how Kappa Alpha Pi can serve as a source of professional development and community amongst like-minded individuals. Students of diverse majors, personal interests, and career objectives have all found anchorage within Kappa Alpha Pi, bound by our collective zeal for fraternalism. We value the qualities and interests that make you unique, and we are so excited to get to know each of you and discover the passion and leadership you could bring to our community. We will now discuss the recruitment process in further detail.
During the recruitment cycle, Kappa Alpha Pi will be hosting a series of virtual and in-person events during which applicants will be able to interact with members on a more personal level to gauge a sense of our fraternity’s close-knit environment, receive answers to any lingering questions, and build on their own unique networks of friendships and acquaintances. Our Meet the Chapter event will commence our Spring 2025 Recruitment and demonstrate the peer-professional support that is embedded in the fraternalism we share. For those of you who are unable to attend this event, please feel free to reach out to our President and Internal Vice President for a Coffee Chat. Legal Night will demonstrate our relationship with the legal community, providing applicants with insight into everything that the legal field has to offer. Our Application/Interview Workshop will give you the unique opportunity to learn about what we value in an applicant as well as instill professional development and help show how you can prepare for interviews. Social Night will aid applicants in getting to know members, and vice versa, on a more casual level. Coffee Chats will allow clarification on the recruitment process and interactions with members on a more personal level. We highly encourage applicants to attend these events to learn each and every member’s story of personal growth and development since joining the fraternity, and how that has allowed them to better contribute to whichever sectors their passions have resided in–whether they are rooted within the legal field or not. Additionally, we hope that applicants are able to recognize the common threads of maturity and refinement that runs through each of our journeys in crafting the very best versions of ourselves.
Following the recruitment events, applicants will be invited to participate in a set of interviews to further gauge their professionalism, problem-solving capacities, and critical thinking skills. Then, this semester’s newly integrated Alpha Beta Class will be carefully selected from a pool of highly accomplished applicants and invited to join our Fraternity. Upon bid acceptance, the Alpha Beta class will partake in our rigorous Leadership Development Program, which further hones professionalism and fraternalism under the guidance of our esteemed Leadership Development Committee. This program will refine all the quintessential skills which are imperative in the professional world. Each Leadership Development candidate will not only learn to forge the foundations of their professional career, but also explore their legal passions and the rigors of true teamwork.
Once the Leadership Development Semester is completed, members of the Alpha Beta class will become active members of Kappa Alpha Pi, and will be able to choose how to actively engage themselves within our community through committees such as Recruitment, Social Justice, Public Relations & Marketing, Legal Events & Planning, and Fellowship. Whether or not you end up pursuing a career in the legal field, the skills that Kappa Alpha Pi provides can translate into any field of work.
We would like to invite you to be a part of our Spring 2025 Recruitment, which will be a holistic and accessible process for all members of the UC Berkeley community. Should you wish to join Kappa Alpha Pi, you will first need to fill out the application on our fraternity’s website. After the submission of your application, you will be prompted to sign up for both an individual and a group interview. For your convenience, all further details regarding the application process are described here the recruitment packet and on our website. Again, as Recruitment Chairs we are here as resources to alleviate any questions or concerns you may have concerning the application process. Additionally, if for any reason you feel that you are not being accommodated during the recruitment process, please do not hesitate to contact us at kapiucb.recruitment@gmail.com.
Thank you again for your interest in joining Kappa Alpha Pi pre-law fraternity, and we look forward to meeting our Spring 2025 Alpha Beta Class.
Best wishes,
Elaine Pimentel and Justine Garcia
