Letter from the Recruitment Chairs

Welcome to the Spring 2026 Recruitment Cycle for Kappa Alpha Pi, UC Berkeley’s premier co-ed pre-law fraternity. Our names are Isabelle Flores and Surabhi Khanna, and on behalf of all the members and alumni who are part of our community, we are thrilled to invite you all to continue to pave the path for professionalism, fraternalism, and integrity. As Recruitment Chairs, we have the privilege of opening our fraternity’s doors to those who are interested in the legal field by organizing the application process, facilitating both social and professional connections, and serving as resources to handle any questions or concerns.

Over the next few weeks, we will demonstrate how Kappa Alpha Pi can kindle professional development and community amongst like-minded individuals. Students of diverse majors, personal interests, and career objectives have all found anchorage within Kappa Alpha Pi, bound by our collective zeal for fraternalism. We value the qualities and interests that make you unique, and we are eager to get to know each of you to discover the passion and leadership you could bring to our community. Below, we will detail the process of the recruitment cycle.

During the recruitment cycle, Kappa Alpha Pi will be hosting a series of in-person events for applicants to interact with our members on a more personal level. These events will help applicants to gauge a sense of our fraternity’s close-knit environment, ask questions, and build their own network of connections. Our Meet the Chapter event will commence our Spring 2026 Recruitment  Cycle and demonstrate the peer-professional support that is embedded in the fraternalism we share. Our Application Workshop presents the unique opportunity to hear about what we value in an applicant, foster professional development, and show how applicants can prepare for the interview rounds. Legal Night provides applicants with insight into various pathways within the legal field, while exemplifying the opportunities that Kappa Alpha Pi offers. Social Night aids applicants in getting to know members, and vice versa, on a more casual level. If you are unable to attend most events, we highly encourage you to make up for your absence by signing up for Membership Coffee Chats. However, please feel free to also sign up in order to receive clarification on the recruitment process and individualized interactions with members. Applicants should work to actively participate in our recruitment events to learn each member’s story of personal growth and development since joining the fraternity. We encourage applicants to explore how Kappa Alpha Pi has allowed members to better contribute to their passions—whether they are rooted within the legal field or not. Additionally, we hope that applicants are able to recognize the common threads of maturity and refinement that run through each of our journeys in crafting the very best versions of ourselves.

Following the recruitment events, the applicants will be asked to submit their written application, which will determine whether or not they will be invited to participate in a set of interviews to further evaluate their teamwork, problem-solving capacities, and critical thinking skills. After an additional Social Invitational, this semester’s newly integrated Alpha Delta Class will be carefully selected from a pool of highly accomplished applicants and invited to join our fraternity. Upon bid acceptance, the Alpha Delta Class will partake in our rigorous Leadership Development Program, which further hones professionalism and fraternalism under the guidance of our esteemed Leadership Development Team. This program will refine all the quintessential skills imperative in the professional world. Each Leadership Development candidate will not only learn to forge the foundations of their professional career but also explore their legal passions and the rigors of true collaboration.

Once the Leadership Development Semester is completed, members of the Alpha Delta Class will become active members of Kappa Alpha Pi. They will be able to choose how to actively engage with our community through committees such as Recruitment, Social Justice, Public Relations & Marketing, Legal Events & Planning, and Fellowship. Whether or not you end up pursuing a career in the legal field, the skills that Kappa Alpha Pi provides can translate into any field of work.

We would like to invite you to be a part of our Spring 2026 Recruitment Cycle, which will be a holistic and accessible process for all members of the UC Berkeley community. For your convenience, all further details regarding the application process are described in the Recruitment Handbook and on our website. As Recruitment Chairs, we are here for you as resources to alleviate any questions or concerns you may have pertaining to the application process. Additionally, if for any reason you feel that you are not being accommodated during the recruitment process, please do not hesitate to contact us at kapiucb.recruitment@gmail.com.

Once again, thank you for your interest in joining Kappa Alpha Pi Pre-Law Fraternity, and we look forward to meeting our Spring 2026 Alpha Delta Class.

Best wishes,

Isabelle Flores and Surabhi Khanna
